What do Asiatic cheetahs eat?

An Asiatic cheetah's diet wholly consists of meat since this feline is a carnivore like its African counterpart. It preys on gazelles, wild goats, sheep and hare in the arid region of Iran, the Kavir Desert. Sometimes it also hunts domestic livestock because of food scarcity.

The Asiatic cheetah is critically endangered mainly due to the diminishing population of its prey, which is caused by poaching and food competition with domestic livestock. In the 1970s, there was an estimated population of 200 to 400 of the animals in the wild, but the estimation has been reduced to around 70 as of the 2010s. The Asiatic cheetah is also known as the Iranian cheetah and the Indian cheetah.
