Do cheetahs migrate?

Cheetah migrating behavior varies by gender. Females tend to migrate in much broader ranges of around 300 square miles. After leaving their mothers, male cheetahs stick to areas of 30 to 50 square miles unless forced farther out by other male group members.
Females migrate to avoid danger from predators throughout the year. They seek safe territories to give birth and to raise offspring. Males are more territorial and prefer to lay claim to a small area and hunt. They fight intruders that enter their hunting grounds. Some male cheetah species are less territorial and group members are only forced out when populations become too dense.
