United States President John F. Kennedy was assassinated by Lee Harvey Oswald, who was a worker at the Texas School Depository, on November 22, 1963. The gunman was also arrested for the murder of Patrolman J.D. Tippit a few moments after shooting the president.
After being arrested and detained for 2 days at the police headquarters, Oswald was to be transferred to the county jail on November 24. However, as he was being transported, a gunman shot him, inflicting fatal gunshot wounds. The gunman was later identified as Jack Ruby, who was the owner of a club in the area.
