Is the automatic stove shut-off only for electric stoves?

Most devices on the market only work with electric stoves, but more devices for gas stoves are in development, as of 2015. Stove Guard created an automatic shut-off device that works on both electric and natural gas stoves, but not on propane gas stoves or stoves with a pilot light.
Stove Guard's electric and natural gas device has a sensor timer that ranges from one to 39 minutes and begins to count down when no one is in the room. The timer can be reset or reprogrammed, but it must be held down for four seconds as an added safety feature. The device is easy to install into four-prong outlets but requires an electrician for three-prong outlets.
