A bedbug's life span, while debatable, has been observed to range from a few months up to a year and a half. This life span is affected by factors such as temperature and food availability.
Bed bugs are brown-colored parasites that will feed on all warm-blooded animals, though they prefer humans. These bugs have been documented as early as the 17th century. They are found throughout the world.
Female bed bugs lay one to twelve eggs daily. These eggs hatch within six to seventeen days, and immediately after, begin feeding in order to molt, or shed and regenerate their shell. Bed bugs reach maturity after 5 molts.
