Individuals paid an average of $31.83 per month for dental plans in 2014 when purchased through a government exchange, notes AARP. Individual dental insurance ranged from $19 to $35 per month in 2014 under an employer-sponsored plan, according to the National Association of Dental Plans.
Individual dental plans that were not employer-sponsored ranged from $4 to $15 per month in 2009, according to the Association of Dental Plans. For employer-sponsored plans, families generally paid $27.12 to $55.60 per month in 2014. The higher price of employer-sponsored plans is balanced by the fact that they generally offer more benefits than plans purchased individually.
