As of 2012, the median pay for a surgical technologist was $41,790 per year, or $20.09 per hour. The lowest 10 percent of workers earned less than $29,710, while the top 10 percent of workers earned over $60,240.
When adding in the value of extras such as benefits, paid time off and bonuses, the average salary rises to $61,277. The number of jobs available for surgical technologists is expected to rise 30 percent between 2012 to 2022, which is a much faster rate than average. In order to become a surgical technologist, one must obtain a post-secondary certificate or associate degree.
