What does the Avia dental plan cover?

Although the Avia dental plan provides a discount on many dental services and procedures, it is not a dental insurance plan, according to the company. Participants in the Avia dental plan must pay for all medical expenses out-of-pocket, but they typically receive up to 50 percent off the total cost for dental procedures.

Avia offers dental plans for students, seniors, families, individuals and groups, notes the Avia website. Available in 21 states, these dental plans feature monthly or annual payment options. As of 2015, participants who select the monthly payment option must pay a $20 fee upon enrollment. The company waives this fee for most participants who select the annual payment option and complete the payment online. However, participants who reside in Florida must pay the enrollment fee regardless of the payment plan option selected.

Dental plan participants have 30 days to cancel membership plans to receive a full refund, minus the enrollment fee, reports Avia. Participants who reside in Tennessee and Vermont receive full refunds that include enrollment fees. Avia dental plans provide participants with unlimited dentist visits, guaranteed acceptance into a plan and the ability to start using the plan immediately after enrolling. In addition to dental plans, Avia also offers vision and prescription medication plans.
