What is a baby squirrel called?

Baby squirrels are infants or babies. There is no specific group name for a family of squirrels because this animal does not practice a hierarchical structure in nature.
Squirrels give birth to infants during the springtime. At birth, a baby squirrel weighs approximately 1 to 2 ounces, has no fur and is blind. The mother squirrel nurses her young for 8 to 10 weeks before they are ready to venture off on their own. She may move her babies to ensure safety, and she carries them in her mouth to move them. The male squirrel does not aid in raising the young, and he moves on after mating.
