What is a backyard zip line?

A backyard zip line is a system consisting of a cable fixed at two or more points and set on an incline, with a pulley attached so the user can travel via gravity from the top to the bottom of the incline.

People typically install zip lines for recreational purposes. Normally, zip lines either have handles for the user to hold onto or a device to attach the user to the pulley. Longer and higher zip lines have become popular as a recreational tourist activity to experience the rainforest canopy at relatively high speeds in countries such as Costa Rica and Nicaragua.
