According to Mayo Clinic, bacterial infections are caused by bacteria and can be treated with antibiotics. Common symptoms of bacterial infections are coughing and sneezing, fever, inflammation, vomiting, diarrhea, fatigue and cramping.
According to Better Health Channel, there are four main types of bacteria that cause infections: Bacilli, Cocci, Spirochaetes and Vibrio. WebMD explains that bacterial infections are spread by coughing and sneezing, contact with infected people, contact with contaminated surfaces and contact with infected creatures. Strep throat and urinary tract infections are common examples of bacterial infections.
WebMD recommends a physical examination by a physician to determine the origin of a bacterial infection so the proper antibiotic can be prescribed.
