Why is it bad to put tin cans in the refrigerator?
By Forinfos - 16/05/2025 - 0 comments
The only risk from putting tin cans with food in the refrigerator is that quality and flavor can suffer over time even if the can has a layer of plastic wrap over its top. The chemicals in the food interact with the tin, which threatens quality but not safety.
Storing unopened tin cans in the refrigerator presents no problems, but it is unnecessary because of the preservatives involved in the canning process. To retain the maximum quality and flavor in food after you open the can, store leftovers in plastic or glass storage containers, and seal them tightly to keep air and moisture from spoiling the food.
