As of 2015, there are 10 federal holidays observed by all banks. Some banks observe an additional three holidays and close on those days. Bank holidays are generally a mixture of religious, cultural and federal holidays. Some of the religious holidays observed by most banks include Easter and Christmas. Cultural holidays include Thanksgiving and New Year's Eve, which is only observed by some banks. Government holidays are days of national reflection, such as Martin Luther King Day and Veteran's Day.
