CIT Bank, E-Loan and Synchrony Bank offer the most competitive one-year certificate of deposit interest rates, with 1.24 percent and 1.25 percent annual percentage yields as of July 31, 2015, notes BankRate. CIT Bank's required minimum deposit is $25,000, E-Loan requires $10,000 and Synchrony Bank requires $2,000.
For a five-year CD as of July 31, 2015, Capital One 360 and Synchrony Bank both offer a 2.23 percent rate with compounding and an APY of 2.25 percent, notes BankRate. Capital One 360 does not require a minimum deposit; however, Synchrony Bank requires a $25,000 deposit. E-Loan offers a 2.28 percent rate with compounding, for a 2.31 APY with a $10,000 minimum deposit.
