What are banquet servers' duties?

Banquet servers have a range of duties, from delivering food to the banquet or venue to keeping glasses filled. The banquet server works directly with catering staff and may be tasked with removing plates, bussing tables and taking orders when there are multiple entrees available at an event.

After an event has ended, the work of the banquet server generally involves cleaning up and breaking down the service, taking out chairs and folding up tables. Although some banquet servers may be paid in a combination of tips and wages, most are paid a flat hourly fee for their services. Generally, no education is needed to become a banquet server, and most of the training is provided on the job.
