Some basic DOS commands for Microsoft Windows are dir, cd, mkdir and move. The dir command allows users to list all the files in the directory. To list the files one page at a time, use this command with the /p option.
The cd command lets users change directory. To go to the parent directory of the current directory, use the cd command, followed by two periods. The mkdir command allows users to create a new directory. To create a new directory, type the mkdir command, followed by the name of the new directory at the command prompt. The move command lets users move files from one directory to another.
