The British Broadcasting Corporation has an overview of modern events in Somalia reported in English on the BBC News Africa section of BBC.com. The BBC also offers news reporting of current world events as well as those of African interest on its Somali language page.
The overview on Somalia covers from the country's inception from British and Italian colonies in 1960 through its descent into chaotic warlord and clan fighting that began in 1991 and lasted for more than two decades. The site also covers the Somalian piracy periods and the country's slow return to organized governance with help from military intervention by its neighbors in 2012.
