In the filing method, a nail file is used to continuously file the nail until no acrylic remains. With the floss method, it is helpful to have a second set of hands. A metal file with a pointed end is used to lift the end of the nail that is closest to the nail bed, while a piece of floss moving in a saw-like motion is used to remove the fake nail from the nail bed.
