Why do bees make honey?
By Forinfos - 12/10/2025 - 0 comments
Bees make honey as a source of food for the colony over the winter, when their normal food supply is gone. Honey is also used to feed the larva.
According to Cornwall Honey, honey is an important source of nutrients for bees. Workers eat nectar and pollen through the spring and summer, but these are not widely available to bees in the winter, making a store of honey necessary. The workers make chambers called honeycombs to store honey and house the larva. The bee is an essential part of the agriculture industry because they pollinate fruit trees and crops for food production. Humans also benefit from the nutrition provided by honey.
