Benzaclin gel is a combination drug of benzoyl peroxide and clindamycin, according to WebMD. It is a remedy for acne, combining the antibiotic of clindamycin with the drying properties of benzoyl peroxide.
Benzaclin is applied as a thin layer of gel to a clean face. A reduction in acne pimples and pustules may take six weeks, with full benefits taking up to 12 weeks of treatment, according to WebMD. Side effects can include itching, burning, redness, skin peeling and dry skin. Benzaclin can be used along with a moisturizing cream to help offset the dry skin side effect of the medication.
