How big are baby scorpions?

Baby scorpions are less than an inch long at birth. They ride on their mother’s back and do not eat or drink until their first molt which occurs several weeks after birth. During this time they are entirely dependent on their mother to protect them and regulate their moisture levels.
Baby scorpions are born live in litters. Their mothers help them break out of the thin membrane that surrounds them at birth. A mother scorpion can give birth to up to 100 babies in one litter, although the average litter size is around 25. Scorpions grow slowly and can live from 4 to 25 years.
