The inaugural Miss Hurst Golden Shifter winner is Linda Vaughn, who out-competed over 200 entrants to earn the title.

After winning the first Miss Hurst Golden Shifter contest, Vaughn established herself as a spokeswoman, mascot and even salesperson for Pure Oil. She formed a contract with the company, and helped promote the brand's products throughout the automotive racing industry. As the first Miss Hurst, Vaughn crafted signature uniforms and clarified roles for future winners of that title.
