Big Bend National Park is located in southwest Texas and borders Mexico. It is 559 miles from Dallas, 406 miles from San Antonio and 610 miles from Houston. The park headquarters are somewhat centrally located at Panther Junction.
Big Bend is the 15th largest national park in the United States and covers 801,163 acres. It is very isolated and cannot be reached by public transportation. There is no public transportation within the park itself. Visitors can legally cross between Mexico and the United States at the Boquillas Crossing Port of Entry, which is open Wednesday through Sunday from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m, as of July 2015.
