As of September 2014, the largest pumpkin ever grown weighed 2,032 pounds, according to the Huffington Post. It was grown in 2013 by Tim and Susan Mathison of Napa Valley in California. It took 105 days for the pumpkin to grow to that size.
The previous record for the largest pumpkin on record was set in 2012 when Ron Wallace presented a 2,009-pound pumpkin at the New England Giant Pumpkin Weigh-off at Topsfield Fair in Topsfield, Mass. The Mathisons' pumpkin was grown by crossing seed from Wallace's 2,009-pound pumpkin with seed from a 1,554-pound specimen that the Mathisons grew previously.
