How big does a miniature shar-pei get?

Miniature shar-peis should stand 17 inches or less at the withers and weigh 25 to 40 pounds at maturity. The American Kennel Club does not recognize miniature shar-peis as a valid variant of the breed.

The breed standard set by the AKC calls for shar-peis to be 18 to 20 inches tall and weigh 45 to 60 pounds at maturity. The miniature shar-pei is developed from the regular shar-pei through breeding for smaller size with the goal of developing a family pet which is small, intelligent and unique. The miniature shar-pei is a good dog for apartment living, but requires a significant amount of exercise.
