How big is whale shark?

The average length of a whale shark is 18 to 32 feet long. They weigh around 20.6 tons. This incredible size makes whale sharks the largest fish in the sea.

The largest whale shark ever recorded was 40 feet long. Scientists speculate that these fish often grow that large or even longer. Despite their enormity, whale sharks are calm fish and do not pose a threat to humans. They prefer to eat small fish and tiny organisms called plankton.They feed by protruding out their jaws as they swim near the surface and scooping up large numbers of the tiny organisms.
