Blind snakes eat worms, insects and larvae. There are nearly 200 species of blind snake in existence today, and they are commonly found in the warmer parts of the world.
Blind snakes are generally small and rarely grow as long as 2 feet. Though they have eyes, they are tiny and covered with the same type of scales that cover the rest of the animal's body. In some species, the tail ends in a spine that scientists believe helps the snake dig because blind snakes burrow into the ground. The head also has a plate to help the snake burrow.
