Who is Blue Ivy?

Blue Ivy Carter is the first child of singer and songwriter Beyonce Knowles and her husband, hip hop artist and music industry mogul Shawn Carter. Shawn Carter is best known by the stage name Jay-Z.

Blue Ivy was born on January 7, 2012, at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York City. In a press release, her parents announced that she was delivered naturally and weighed 7 pounds at birth.

Blue Ivy's arrival stirred some controversy, as it was rumored that her parents paid $1.3 million to rent an entire maternity wing at Lenox Hill Hospital and that their security detail had prevented other parents from freely entering the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. The hospital denied both claims.
