Do border collies shed?
By Forinfos - 08/08/2025 - 0 comments
Border Collies shed throughout the year but tend to shed more during the spring and summer months. Collies have a soft undercoat and a coarse top coat. When the weather turns warmer, collies naturally shed their undercoat to prevent them from getting too hot.
Generally, the easiest way to minimize shedding is by brushing collies on a regular basis. During late fall and winter, collies do not shed as much and may not require as much brushing. However, as the seasons change, it is best to brush collies with a slicker brush or pin brush at least twice a week. A mat ripper can also help remove any mats in the fur. Owners should avoid shaving collies because it can change how their hair grows back.
