Pure boron does not occur naturally on Earth but can be found in some volcanic spring waters in the form of orthoboric acid. It is also present in borates found in mines in Turkey, Chile and Russia.
Boron can be found on the periodic table under the atomic number 5 and the atomic weight of 10.811. It is a non-metallic element, the only non-metal in group 13 on the periodic table. Its most common form is a dark powder. This powder is not reactive to oxygen, water, acids and alkalis. It is also a good conductor of electricity at high temperatures.
