What is the brightest star in the eastern sky?

The brightest star in the eastern sky that shines after dusk is Vega. This star is considered to be the main star of the Summer Triangle. Deneb is the next brightest star, appearing on Vega’s left, and Altair appears to the right.

The Summer Triangle climbs higher early in the evening throughout summer and reaches its highest overhead position at dusk in the beginning of fall. Vega is an Arabic name that means “swooping eagle." This star can be located in the Lyra constellation and is approximately 25 light years away from Earth. It is three times larger than the sun and is 50 times more luminous.
