The Broward County Records, Taxes and Treasury Division, rather than one specific person, is responsible for tax collection for the county, and its director as of 2015 is Tom Kennedy. The county's tax collection, records and revenue collection departments merged into this current division in 2009.
Local business taxes, sales taxes, tourist development taxes and property taxes are some of the revenues the department collects, and the department's website offers online services for taxpayers. In addition to dealing with taxation, the department is involved with motor vehicle registration and titling, land record searches and management, passport applications, hunting and fishing licenses, county fund investment and bank reconciliation.
