To become a state-tested nurse aide in Ohio, at least 75 hours of class time must be completed. Of these, 16 hours are dedicated to the initial classroom instruction, followed by 59 hours of combined practical training and lecture.
Passing a written test and a skills test is also required. According to the Ohio Department of Health, several schools are qualified to offer the courses necessary to become a state-tested nurse aide. In Ohio, the Nurse Aide Registry keeps track of individuals who have met the written and skills test criteria to be certified for employment in long-term care settings, usually nursing homes.
