A notary acknowledgement is a legal declaration of a signature before a person with authority or a public official. The public official can be a mayor, a judge or a person in authority.

A notary acknowledgement must be part of the original document. The acknowledgement can be added to the original document or written on a separate paper and attached to the original document. It must be filled appropriately and signed by a notary public. A notary acknowledgement is executed on documents affecting property and deeds among other issues. Improperly notarized documents can't be accepted. Documents must be notarized to show the authentication of the signature.
