According to the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, the Registered Dietitian exam is a national examination administered by the Commission on Dietetic Registration. It is one of the requirements for becoming licensed and working as a registered dietitian.
Registered dietitians are food and nutrition experts, and as stated by Penn State's Department of Nutritional Sciences, a person must apply and be accepted to an accredited dietetic internship program to earn the RD certification. Once she has successfully completed the RD program, she must take and pass a national board registration exam much like other health professionals such as medical doctors.
