Are Butterfly kerosene stoves safe to use indoors?

Butterfly kerosene stoves are safe for indoor use as long as they are properly broken in. New stoves should be left to burn in a well-ventilated outside area for several hours to burn off any protective coating on the unit's catalytic converter. This prevents any harmful gases from being expelled.

Kerosene stoves produce very little carbon monoxide gas, making them ideal for emergency use indoors. They still must be placed in a well-ventilated area, set on a sturdy, flat surface and never left unattended. Keep children and pets away, since the heat source is a wick with an open flame. Some larger Butterfly kerosene stoves are designed for everyday use, but the same cautions apply.
