What is a C-section scar?

A C-section scar is a mark on a woman's abdominal area that forms as a result of having a C-section. A C-section, also called a Cesarean delivery, is a surgical procedure used to deliver a baby through two incisions: one in the mother's abdomen and one in her uterus.
Since a C-section is a surgery, the scar is similar to the scars left by other forms of surgery. Now, it is common for doctors to make the small horizontal or vertical c-section incision directly below the mother's pubic bone. This practice makes the C-section scar difficult to see once it heals.
