IMS Trading Group voluntarily recalled its Cadet Brand Chicken Jerky Treat in 2013. This action was taken by the company after learning that traces of antibiotic residue were found in the treats by the New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets.
Although the antibiotics found in the treats are approved for use in poultry in some countries, such as China, they are not approved in the United States. While voluntarily withdrawn from the market, the company publicly announced that they were safe to feed as directed by the packaging. The treats were not linked to any canine or human illnesses.
