General Motors makes Cadillac vehicles. General Motors, also known as "GM," also makes Buick, Opel and different models of Chevrolet vehicles.

The Cadillac Car Company was founded in 1902 by Henry Leland and around 2,500 cars were produced within the first year of operation. William Durant founded General Motors in 1908 and in 1909, he persuaded Henry Leland to sell the Cadillac Car Company to GM. General Motors first started out solely producing various Buick and Oldsmobile models, but it has grown since its inception. Throughout the years, it has acquired over 20 different brands of vehicles and as of 2014, it continues to own the Cadillac name.
