Calculate the percentage difference of two numbers by dividing the difference of the numbers by their average. Multiply this answer by 100 to determine the percentage difference.
- Find the difference between the two values
Subtract one of the values being compared from the other. If the difference is a negative number, use the absolute value by ignoring the negative sign for the rest of the calculation.
- Divide by the average
Add the two values together and divide by two to find their average. Divide the number found in Step 1 by the average of the values.
- Convert to a percentage
Multiply this value by 100 by moving the decimal point two places to the right. This is the percentage difference.
