What is a California king?

A California king, also called a Cal king or western king, is a mattress that is 72 inches wide and 84 inches long, making it the longest mattress type available. It's 4 inches narrower and 4 inches longer than a standard king-sized mattress and is often preferred by taller people.

California kings cost more than standard king mattresses, and the sheets for this mattress type may be harder to find and more expensive. Western king mattresses use two half-width box springs for more manageable moving and come in a variety of depths, from the standard 7 inches up to 22 inches in some extra-deep-pocket mattresses.
