Who was Calpurnia in Julius Caesar?

Calpurnia Pisonis was Julius Caesar's third and last wife. Roman by birth, Calpurnia married Caesar in 59 B.C. The two were quite in love with one another.

Calpurnia was a quiet and shy woman who was unable to have any children. Caesar was sad that he did not have an heir, but he didn't have any regrets about marrying her. One night, Calpurnia had a disturbing premonition in a dream that men were washing their hands with Caesar's blood that flowed from his statue. He stayed home to ease her mind, but the dream did eventually come true. After Caesar's death, Calpurnia never remarried.
