Do camel spiders bite?

According to National Geographic, the Egyptian giant solpugid, also known as the camel spider, inflicts a painful bite. While it is not deadly to humans, the bite of the Middle Eastern carnivore does kill insects, lizards, rodents and small birds.
Reaching a size of about 6 inches, camel spiders use large, powerful jaws up to one-third of their body length to seize victims and turn them to pulp with a sawing or chopping motion. The spiders are not venomous, but they do utilize digestive fluids that liquefy the flesh of their victims, enabling them to suck the remains into their stomach with ease.
