Camp Lejeune, a U.S. Marine training facility, is located in Jacksonville, North Carolina. Its 14 miles of beaches are located between the deep-water ports of Wilmington and Morehead City, North Carolina.
Named for Lieutenant General John Archer Lejeune, 13th Commandant of the Marine Corps, Camp Lejeune's 246 square miles are an ideal location for amphibious assault training and for quickly deploying Marine personnel. With its mission to support the Marine Corps, the Navy and the Coast Guard, Camp Lejeune serves as a host facility for NATO-sponsored training of military forces and features the largest concentration of marines and sailors in the world.
