Can you adjust the clutch on a tractor?

The clutch on a tractor can be adjusted. John Deere recommends checking tractor clutches as part of regular maintenance, and includes adjustment instructions in its operator's manuals.
Adjusting a tractor clutch is a normal part of tractor maintenance. Regular wear causes the clutch to disengage, which in turn causes the clutch to wear down faster. Adjusting the clutch when necessary slows this wear and increases the useful life of the clutch.
To determine whether a clutch is disengaged, a truck owner must measure how far the clutch pedal can be pressed without resistance. If this distance is higher than the specification given in the operator's manual, adjustment is necessary.
