Can advent calendars be recycled along with ordinary cardboard?

Advent calendars can be recycled with ordinary cardboard if they are made out of paper or cardboard. Any plastic or foil from the inside or wrapping should be removed and disposed of or recycled separately.
Recycled Advent calendars can be processed with other paper and card waste. These products can then be turned into new paper items, helping to save trees, energy and other natural resources, such as water and minerals. Most recycling centers take paper-based items for processing.
Paper products make up almost 30 percent of waste in the United States. In 2010, 63 percent of paper used was recycled.
