Can you apply for credit cards with a cosigner online?

Consumers can apply for a credit card with a cosigner online, but not all lenders offer this service. Some of the credit card issuers that allow cosigning for online applications include Bank of America, Discover and Wells Fargo, states Bankrate.

When applying for a credit card with a cosigner, the applicant opens a joint account with someone qualified. In many cases, the applicant submits the application in his own name and the lender lets him know if a cosigner is needed. The cosigner is jointly responsible for the account and has to make payments if the main credit card holder is unable to pay the bills, states Discover.
