Can you apply for Medicare online?

As of 2015, individuals have the option to apply for Medicare Part A online. They may do so by using the online application provided by the Social Security Administration. Once the applicant submits the form, Medicare processes the application and sends a Medicare card to the applicant via mail.

The online application also gives individuals the option to finish a previously started application, or check the status of an application that was recently submitted. Those interested in applying for Medicare Part B can do so by using the form CMS 40-B; however, applicants must submit this form in person or mail it to a local Social Security office.
