Can you apply for unemployment over the phone?
By Forinfos - 23/01/2026 - 0 comments
As of 2015, many unemployment offices allow applicants to file over the phone. However, application regulations vary by state so phone filing may not be allowed in all areas.
In most states, similar information is required to file for unemployment. Applicants should call the filing center prepared with their social security number, contact information including address and phone number for themselves and their last employer, and the date they began and stopped working for their last employer. If an individual has yet to receive any severance or holiday pay from a former employer, he should also be prepared to report it at the time of applying.
