Can a Bosch dishwasher smell?

Any dishwasher can develop an unpleasant odor when food scraps gather at the bottom of the tub on the dishwasher screen. Cleaning the screen thoroughly and running another cycle of the dishwasher should eliminate the unpleasant smell.

The actual odor in the dishwasher comes from bacteria that eat the food fragments and grease that gathers in the screen at the bottom of the dishwasher, in the sprayer jets and on the bottom of the door. Rinsing and cleaning the screen, checking the sprayer arm for embedded food and scrubbing off the bottom edge of the door with household cleaner should eliminate the odor. Running a cycle using dishwasher disinfectant as the detergent with no dishes should finish the job.
